Sloppy Joseph

You just have to serve something sloppy on Halloween! Make these sandwiches for your trick-or-treaters, then follow them up with some Spooky Spiced Cider and Compost Cookies -- you'll find recipes in the Serve With links below.
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (10-ounce) can tomato soup
1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 hamburger buns
Directions:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the onion and green pepper in the oil.
Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.
Notes: You can easily double or triple the recipe to make ahead and serve to a crowd. Keep warm in your slow-cooker for buffet service.
